Our Hong Kong experience started at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The hotels Grand Deluxe Rooms were great with marble bathrooms and of a good size. The location is fantastic, walk down to the ferry in 5 mins and you are across to Kowloon in no time.
The day spa is fantastic and the pool, gym, tennis courts etc on level 11 of the hotel are a stand out. The Sunday brunch they have by the pool is amazing and attracts many outside guests & locals too so keep that in mind as a good Sunday session.
I really prefer the Hong Kong Island side. There are so many amazing restaurants and bars in the SOHO area in and around Staughton St. I also prefer the shopping on this side for the independent boutiques. It is great to just wander around and get lost in all those streets. Causeway Bay has more reasonable shopping with a few designer stores.
We went to Armani Prive for a evening drink .. .great roof top bar, very nice Cafe Grey ( at the Upper House hotel) amazing atmosphere, really up market, great restaurant and a really interesting crowd. Seeva was another great one for drinks with a very, big terrace ..
The Foodies Tour ( I had to leave but my 2 friends did it) was a huge highlight for them and just a fantastic experience!
They also went on the train to Shenzhen for shopping. Door to door on the train & getting via customs took them 2 hrs but once you arrive, you are right there at the huge centre so it’s pretty easy, just takes time. You have to be prepared to haggle hard but there was some pretty good quality stuff.
The Cafe Grey has international cuisine and sea food with excellent cocktails and a great wine list.
The China Club is an amazing building in the old bank of china building. Hard to get into so must pre book well in advance. Fantastic Chinese, best duck I have had in some time! The building has all these different levels and a huge art collection.! Just fabulous.
Tim ho Wan is Michelin star but cheap .. best baked BBQ pork buns!
Yard Bird is a really cool restaurant with great food and lots of seafood. Ronin is also amazing and is owned by same people so can’t go wrong.
Little Bao! if you love them you will love this place.
Cichas is a Peruvian restaurant in Soho .. AMAZING! Great to go with a small group, excellent service and the food is to die for …
We ventured to the Peninsular for a champagne (the bar there is not open till 3pm). We had champagne and wonderful food upstairs.. if you want afternoon tea, be happy to wait in the massive line.
If you like to hang with expats and enjoy Sunday session then the Staughtons Wine Bar is a great for this, it is packed to the rafters but has a great casual vibe.
